Well, March has certainly flown by!
I've (almost) managed to get my blocks for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge completed just in time.
The colour for the month was light greens. Here are my three little birds for the month...
....and here is a group shot of my flock of birds...
The block of the month for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge is this one...
It's quite a pretty block and my goal is to do three of the monthly block, but I just have this one. I hope to rectify that and have three by the end of the weekend.
The colour for April is yellow and gold...that should make for some pretty little birds!
I had a nice sewing afternoon yesterday. I haven't sewn garments in many years and I have never even touched a serger in my life! Three of us were making the same tunic but in three different fabrics.
Here is mine...
Hmmm, not a great picture, but you can see how pretty the top is. It's a bit "gappy" at the back of the neck, not sure why but maybe a good pressing will help. I just have to hem one sleeve and do the bottom hem....so hopefully a half an hour today will take care of that.
I must say, trying to sew with a 5/8" seam allowance when you haven't done it in years is a bit difficult! That seam allowance seemed positively huge!!!
I am linking up with So Scrappy today so we can have a peek at what others have accomplished this month on their RSC18.
Sweet birds!!! And beautiful Squared Away block of the month.
ReplyDeleteYou did a good job sewing the tunic.
The bird block is a fun RSC project!
ReplyDeleteThe top you sewed looks very pretty on you!
Happy Easter!
I know! Where has March gone? Your birds are the cutest, and your block looks great. That top is springy enough to wear for Easter, too!
ReplyDeleteYour bird blocks are adorable, and the top is very pretty. If it is gaping too much at the back neck, you could try running some elastic along the neckline to pull it in.
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love your birds - they are making me want to buy that pattern! Great job on the tunic, too! I can see what you mean about changing back to a 5/8 inch seam after not sewing that way for so long!
ReplyDeleteGreat work!
ReplyDeleteThat flock of birds... ADORABLE!!! Nice job on your new tunic, too.
ReplyDeleteSuch cute birds! Can you please tellme where I might find the pattern? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteLOL I snickered aloud at the 5/8" being HUGE! I know when I turn an edge over on a cushion cover, 1/2 and 1/2" again that seems huge too. Love the fabric, and I didn't think it look 'happy'. Love your birds, so want to do some, never enough time.
ReplyDeleteYears ago when I sewed some of my clothes, and the neck gapped, I would insert some "string" elastic... do not remember the proper name, through a seam allowance and thread it through the whole thing to get it to snug up. When I got back to that seam I would machine stitch over the two ends so they would not come out, after I had adjusted it to the snugness I wanted without bunching anywhere. Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteThose are just the sweetest little birds!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the little birds !
