Today's design wall.....

Today I thought I'd share a picture of how my design wall is looking. Last weekend everything had to come down and now it seems a bit refreshed for some reason.

It also reinforces what I know....that I can never seem to resist a sew-along! Surely I'm not the only one?, I know I'm not!!!

I'm still loving the temperature quilt (along the top of the picture) and am looking forward to February, when I'll start adding a second row.

The large block on the right is a new sewalong called Miss Lizzy Blooms. The blocks are 18", nice and big and cheery.....there will be one block per month.

Below that are my first two blocks for the sewalong offered by the Canadian Quilters Association....#52blocks52weeks. I'm using my 30's prints because after all this time I still really love them.

There are a number of my Farm Girl Vintage blocks on the wall. Doing eight blocks of that quilt is my One Monthly Goal for January and it looks like I may be able to accomplish it. This was a sewalong a couple of years back and I'm sorry that I fell off the rails on this one because it results in a pretty sweet quilt.

My "braid" is on the design wall to remind me to get back at my I Am Enough quilts.....I'm pondering this being my goal for February.

And, finally, there is my Harry Potter block!!!

I love it!

This is the very beginning of a quilt-along that Lorna is offering at Sew Fresh Quilts....we've just started, so a great time to join in!

A quilt that has fallen by the wayside is my Simple Folk quilt. It is a BOM that was offered in 2018 by Sarah Fielke.

I don't know why it's been months since I've worked on it, but I did prep a block a couple of days ago and have been poking at it.....I still like it and want to keep at it. I wonder if it's back on my radar because Sarah's new BOM starts next week????

So cute!

And, a bit of a tip'll notice that I fussy cut the bird in such a way that the pattern in the fabric will kinda represent an eye where the bird's eye should be?....well, that was a design choice instead of having to applique a very small circle/eye. I was going to use the opportunity to try to use the Appliquick tools that I bought a long time ago....but I chickened out once again :(

Today I am linking up with Lorna for Let's Bee Social (hopefully we'll see a few more Harry Potter blocks!), and with Susan at Quilt Fabrication for Midweek Makers.

Well, it looks like a messy morning out there and I have to get ready to go out in it. Hopefully you get to stay inside and do a bit of sewing!

  1. My friend you sound exactly like me! I have managed to not start some of the above quiltalongs, but am still usually in over my head!! I'm excited about starting my first hand pieced block from the new quiltalong!

  2. Your design wall looks fabulous! I love your HP block. I'm anxious to start mine but like you I have a few too many irons in the fire. It's the curse of a creative life. :) I wouldn't trade it for anything.

  3. Your Harry Potter is darling and I LOVE your Simple Folk birdie block! Yes, I noticed immediately how you placed the fabric just right for the eye. :-) Sarah Fielke's patterns are SO enticing; I wish I had time to start in on Down the Rabbit Hole but I have a couple of overdue baby quilts and my son's graduation quilt to tackle before I can add a NewFO!

  4. Your design wall is so inviting. All of your fabrics are so pretty. The Harry Potter block really stands out. I still need to sew one. Nicely done. Yrs, I also noticed the fabric bird's eye. I love details such as that. I am envious of your design wall. I have one but everytime I open it out, my young cat thinks it is a climbing wall. I have employed the kitty equalizer, the spray bottle, but she always knocks things off. Bad kitty. It is like having a toddler and sneaking into the sewing room while they nap. lol

  5. Lots of fun blocks on that design wall. Wish mine looked as good!
