The fog and dampness makes me feel like taking it slow this morning and enjoying a few more stitches than usual.
I'd love to say that I'll have my 2016 Sarah Fielke BOM, Happy Days, completed before her 2017 BOM starts later this month....but I don't think so. That's ok though, it's getting there.
Right now I've been working on the appliqued corner blocks...
I'd remembered that I had received two sample spools of a new thread by WonderFil, Efina. It's a 60wt Egyptian cotton and in the description it says it's suited to applique so I thought I'd just better give it a try!
The first thing I noticed is that it had a nice feel to it which I thought was a strange thing to notice! It glided through the fabric nicely and I didn't experience any tangling.
At another time I might invest in this new thread line but not now...I have an abundance of applique thread.
I haven't done any quilting on my hearts since before Christmas. I didn't want to bring it out until our canine houseguests had left. I have it sitting out in plain view today to remind myself to do maybe an hour of quilting today...
Last Sunday I decided to watch a documentary that someone told me about called "Fat, Sick, Nearly Dead". I have to admit that it didn't sound like something I'd be interested in but thought I'd give it a polite 20 minutes to at least say I gave it a try.
Within ten minutes my husband joined me and we enjoyed the show.
When it was done, he said, "I guess we're going out tomorrow looking for a juicer?". Ha!
So, through the week we've tried to do a juice or two per day. I have to say that the first thing I notice is that we are both sleeping better than we have for a few years!
The juices are so pretty...
Wish me luck! Today I am starting a three-day juice cleanse. The good thing is is that each juice recipe we've tried has been quite tasty!...really!!!
The down-side is that I could evidently experience irritability for the next couple of days. Which means I should just bury myself into my applique and quilting to save the world from that irritability. Sounds like a plan!
I'm just starting to feel like I'm missing that cup of coffee that I didn't have this morning :(
I'm sure I'll survive!
I am linking up with Kathy's Quilts to see what others are slowing down to stitch on today, and with Quilting is More Fun Than Housework for Oh,Scrap!.
Have a great day.....and hopefully we'll see a bit of sun soon!
I don't have fabrics like you used in your Happy Days blocks but they certainly do appeal in your applique blocks.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful applique!
ReplyDeleteO my goodness those appliqué blocks are gorgeous! I haven't seen this pattern before but it's a beauty, as are your fabrics.
ReplyDeleteLove the fabric choices in your appliqué. Really beautiful! Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap! Good luck with the purge. :)
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are lovely. The juice looks ok, is it fruit? I really couldn't face broccoli juice!
ReplyDeleteI'm admiring your applique work, as usual! Stunning colors!
ReplyDeleteAnd the juices really are pretty colors, but I think I'll stick to my coffee, thanks! Good luck!
Your applique is beautiful. I'm always glad to learn about new thread.
ReplyDeleteI love the fabrics in your appliqué blocks!
ReplyDeleteYour applique blocks are so cheerful and fun! I have used WonderFil (100 wt.) thread for years for my applique and certain instances of machine quilting. I love the thread!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the juicing. I have one every day.
ReplyDeleteThat is how I met my husband! Juicing! He had seen the movie, and I was already juicing. :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes we just have to jump back in and do it again.
Your applique blocks are deelightful! ENjoy your sewing and juicing.
